Phuket, Krabi and Koh Samui enjoy the northeast monsoon – mostly sunny mornings with brief afternoon showers. Sea temperatures stay above 27°C, ideal for snorkelling. Krabi sees slightly more rain than Phuket, but both are far drier than November.

December is the start of the peak dry season. January is marginally cooler and less humid, especially in Chiang Mai. Both months offer excellent beach weather, but December has festive events and higher accommodation demand.
